Where Russia exports finished industrial products
Contrary to popular belief, Russian industrial products are exported not only to the CIS. And supplies to non-CIS countries are not limited to the narrow range of the military-industrial complex and the nuclear complex. And in this case we are not talking about semi-finished products and materials, many of which are competitive due to our high resource availability (which can also be proud of), namely, ready-made goods.
We took all the goods of Russian exports at the level of 4 signs of TNVED and sorted them by the value of exports in 2017. Excluded agricultural products, raw materials and semi-finished products – even such technological and deeply processed ones like wood plates, plastics and aluminum rolled products. Excluded are positions where exports were mainly formed by the return of equipment (eg, cargo ships). Also, excluding prefabricated items from the category “other”, the name of which does not give an idea of the product (although it is clear that “other products made of ferrous metals” and, especially, “other mechanical equipment” are finished goods).
As a result, we obtained a list of 96 types of finished industrial products with exports of over $ 90 million. Naturally, there are no “closed” positions here, including military and aerospace equipment. Further, the geography of exports of these products is presented.
All goods go in a general list in descending order of magnitude of exports. This time we moved away from the industry division for better comparison of indicators. For each product, all exporting countries with a share of 1-1.5% are listed and additionally the number of other countries whose deliveries exceeded $ 1 million (we considered this to be a significant border). A million dollars was not rounded, namely 1,000,000, i.e. 998500 was not considered. When describing the products, we tried to simplify the official long and complex names of TNVED positions, without losing their essence.
